About Tess Elderton
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/about-vicdrg/adoption-and-foster-application-forms.html/
Please note: Tess has developed a beautiful bond with Vincent Whistledown who is also in our care, and they would love to be rehomed together.
Looking for someone who will always welcome you home with the biggest, goofiest smile? Need a sweet friend that will spend time snuggling and listening to your problems? Ready to experience the happiness associated with the little things in life? Then the gorgeous, delightful, goofy Tess is your girl.
Tess is bigger than she looks in her photos - 70cm at the shoulder and sometimes doesn't have awareness of her size. She is the best cuddler - she wraps her head and long neck around your chest to snuggle right in. Whilst out, she walks well on the lead and loves as long a walk as she can get. Tess is always happy to see other dogs on her walk, but despite this will walk diligently by her foster carers' side. Sometimes Tess may pull on the lead if she sees another dog and really wants to say hello. When meeting other dogs, Tess is enthusiastic and friendly but at times doesn’t read other dog’s body language well. Tess just loves everyone so much that she thinks everybody is her friend. Tess has previously lived with a jack russell and kelpie.
Tess has a cheeky personality, but she will wait for her food and is able to follow basic commands. Tess is a lot of fun and just an all round gorgeous and happy dog.
Tess' ideal home would be one where her family are willing to exercise her regularly and are happy to have her sitting beside them getting a cuddle whenever she can. They will continue to work with Tess on her training and socialization. She doesn't need a big yard if she gets her regular walks. If Tess sounds like your ideal forever family member, please fill out an application.
Tess’ new home will be cat free.
Thank you to Christopher of Christopher Fotobooks for the fantastic photos
of Tess.
Please note: our dogs are not available for interstate adoption. We also do not adopt to people under the age of 25 years.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
Medical notes
Weight: 33kg
Health: Tess has been hit by a car and subsequently had a broken leg repaired.
Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
If you are still interested, please download an application form from our website:

The application form must be emailed to us:

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
