The impact of your kindness 2022
The impact of your kindness 2022
Closing out the year was a special campaign for the pets most in need. 12 Pets of Christmas helped shine a spotlight on some of the pets who had been listed the longest on PetRescue and provide extra support to the pounds and rescue groups caring for them until they found homes.
Collectively, these pets had been waiting over 1,750 days to find homes. But finding a home for every pet is possible…
Thanks to you, Moo, Mort, Beau, Peter Pan, Leo, Buddy, Boomer, Florian and Tara and Polly have all been adopted and spent Christmas with their new families!
A HUGE thank you for assisting with finding Buddy a forever home! After 149 days of being at the Animal Shelter, Buddy found a home for Christmas 🌲
It wouldn't have been possible without your assistance, so thank you all for caring and including Buddy in your '12 Pets of Christmas' feature. 💚

Left: Florian was adopted and now lives on a big property with lots of room to play and lots of love!
Second from left: Handsome boy Boomer was recently adopted by a single guy, and he has a new life as a tradie, going to work each day with his human in his ute.
Fourth from left: Peter Pan now lives with a big floofy dog!
But that's not all. Here are all the amazing things you made possible for homeless pets in 2022.
A home for every pet
Your support helped 57,195 homeless pets find homes quickly through PetRescue's free adoption platform.
This included 36,211 cats and 18,626 dogs...
Like gentle giant Tank, a foster fail who learnt how to live with (and love) three cats.
Thanks to you, PetRescue’s platform is free for all and provides ‘time-saving for life-saving’ tools that continue to help member rescue organisations from all across Australia manage the adoption process and get pets into new homes quickly, no matter where they are.
"Thank you! We were so excited. Did you know within one hour of posting, we had a call enquiring about adopting, and that person turned out to be the most perfect person for Archie. We were so impressed as we had had him on another website for a month with only one enquiry."

Keeping pets safe
298 pets like Apollo and Mollie were able to find new homes quickly and safely when the Home2Home assisted rehoming program was able to re-open in August with the support of generous donors.
Circumstances change, and pet owners sometimes need to rehome their pets. Thanks to you, Home2Home is helping people who love their pets keep them safe when faced with this most difficult decision and reduces the burden on rescue organisations so they can focus on the most vulnerable pets and those needing urgent care.
Apollo from VIC was rehomed via Home2Home after re-opening the program to dogs in VIC.
Dogs such as sweet boy Apollo, who has epilepsy, was the first cross-country traveller who went on a flight from Victoria to his new home in WA. This is an incredible outcome for a dog that requires special care and medical attention who will be going directly to a safe, loving home and staying out of a stressful shelter environment.
Senior pet Mollie found a loving new home through the Home2Home program.
And senior pets like Mollie, who was comfortably rehomed straight to a new home just five days after being listed on PetRescue. Given how often senior pets are overlooked in shelters and pounds, rehoming through Home2Home gave Mollie a chance to be seen and retire to a loving new home. And your support is what helped make this happen for Mollie. 💚
"This amazing program gave my cat a second chance at a wonderful life with a loving owner when I was no longer able to care for her. I now receive regular updates and photos from her new owner, which would not happen if she had been adopted from a shelter. Rehoming my cat was one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made, and I was feeling very guilty that due to ill health, I had to do so. From the first email Vicki from Home2Home sent me, I knew that I had found the perfect program to help me find my cat a new home. Vicki was so understanding, and there wasn't a hint of judgement, which meant that I felt comfortable with the process. I will be forever grateful to Vicki and the Home2Home team, as I believe they saved my cat's life."
Maria, a pet owner who rehomed her cat via Home2Home.
Thanks to you, the PetRescue team are on-hand to provide one-on-one support throughout the Home2Home process. In some cases, these tools mean that pet owners have found solutions to be able to keep their pet - the best outcome for everyone!
Direct support for pounds
In exciting progress, nine pounds became new members of the Safe and Sound Pound community. Now, 49 pounds across the country are giving pets the best chance to find love through PetRescue’s adoption platform.
Getting more pounds on board using PetRescue’s adoption platform as a rehoming pathway is crucial in keeping pound pets safe. Digital rehoming gives pounds and shelters access to a much bigger community of adopters (including the possibility of interstate adoptions) while reducing the burden on rescue groups at capacity.
Cathy, adopted thanks to Shepparton Animal Shelter
"We have recently started using PetRescue a lot more than we have in the past, and it has been very helpful for us, we are getting 3X more applications and interest in our animals than usual."
- Shepparton Animal Shelter (PetRescue Member)
All this is possible because of you!
Thank you to our generous pet-lovin’ partners and sponsors for supporting the mission to find a home for every pet that needs one:
