Sophia and Suki find their missing piece ❤️️
We know that the loss of a pet is devastating for us humans, but this heartbreak also affects other pets left behind, especially if they’ve spent years hanging out together every day. 💔
When Sophia’s 18-year-old rescue kitty crossed the rainbow bridge, her other cat Suki was feeling very lonely, Sophia decided to rescue another cat as a companion - describing rescuing a pet as a ‘lucky dip’!
Sophia had previously used PetRescue to find Suki, so jumped back on and quickly came across little Natasha, an adorable tortoiseshell kitty, who was in the care of Animal Welfare League. She was described as needing lots of love to gain confidence, who loves other cats but will need patience from her humans to thrive. Sophie quickly arranged to meet Natasha, and was thrilled when she immediately gave her lovey eyes with direct eye contact!
Sophia recalls first taking her home, and Natasha sitting on her bed beside their older cat - they were instantly BFFs. She fit right in straight away! Within only a few hours she was a bundle of confidence. It was heartwarming for Sophia to see the two cats quickly bonding. They played and chased each other around all day. Before Natasha came home, Suki had been very sad after losing her friend, sleeping all day in one spot. Now that she had a new friend to hang out with, Suki was back to her old self, playing and being much more vocal.
It was easy to tell that Natasha had made herself right at home when, only two days in, she rolled around on the floor of the living room with her belly out! She especially loves playing with crocheted toys and carries a crocheted ball around in her mouth all the time.
When asked about how Christmas would be different without Natasha in her life, Sophia said:
‘’Christmas Day would be drastically different without Natasha. Since losing our cat Sparky a few months ago Natasha has brought a new energy to our home and made our other cat Suki come out of her shell. Christmas Day will be much easier with Natasha around since Sparky has been at our last 18 Christmas's and this will be our first without her.’’
Sophia says that PetRescue made it easy for her to connect with Natasha, and signing up for pet alerts meant she received kitties straight to her inbox who fit her criteria, without the need to search for hours.
Happy stories like Natasha’s are made possible because your donation helps connect homeless pets with loving humans, giving them the greatest chance possible of finding a new home.
