Siblings Reunited 💚

Have you ever wondered where your rescue pet’s siblings are, and what their lives are like? Due to an amazing series of coincidences, Danielle and husband Jake got to meet not one, not two, but three of their rescue doggo Billie’s siblings and their humans! Read their happy tail of adopting Billie and their other rescue kitties Mr Meowgi and Milla, and the recent reunion of Billie’s siblings 💚

Danielle and Jake had previously adopted two rescue kitties, Mr Meowgi and Milla (also found on PetRescue!) but as they had the travel bug and worked away from home a lot, they wanted to wait for their lives to settle down a little before introducing a doggo into their family. Due to the pandemic, travel was off the table and Danielle started working from home more, so they decided it was a sign that it was time to adopt their third furry friend!

As they had previously used PetRescue to find Milla, Danielle was searching the PetRescue website everyday for a dog who would be suited to living with two kitties. A few months into their search, Danielle saw four-month-old pup Billie (then called Cher) and said she applied straight away, and ‘her cute little face made my heart explode!’. After applying, the couple had a whirlwind few days - they received a call from the group within an hour and after chatting about their lives they were approved, then three days later they picked up sweet little Billie from Country Kats and K9s Rescue!

When asked about the impact that Billie has had on their lives, Danielle says; ‘’Billie is the perfect addition to our family. She gets along with the cats, she is very well behaved and being half greyhound she is a good balance of energy and chill. Before Billie we wouldn't often exercise outside but now with her two outings a day we are always out and about with her. Walking, the beach, parks and cafes.’’ Danielle says that the experience of adopting Billie has reinforced to the couple that rescuing is important to them, adding that ‘there is something special about adopting an animal, not choosing them for looks or their breed but choosing them for their unconditional love’.

Danielle and Jake have now had Billie in their lives for a year, and say 

‘’She has really come out of her shell to be a confident, loving and well-behaved young lady. She is the friendliest dog, there is not one person or dog she won't give a welcoming kiss to (if okay by the dog or person!). She must collect a stick every walk and bring it home to her collection in the bushes near the front door.’’

Danielle says that having Billie has changed her and Jake to be better and more selfless people, and her happiness and positivity has rubbed off on the couple. Billie has changed the couple’s daily life for the better, Danielle says; 

‘She's always up for a snuggle and kisses. She's not a very good WFH assistant though, she just sleeps and farts! Buying PJs and outfits for her has been a great joy for me during lockdown, her wardrobe is almost as big as mine. Billie also had swimming lessons, she wasn't a confident swimmer/water dog so we took her and now she loves the water. She has been camping with us and loves the beach.’

Recently, Billie was overjoyed to be reunited with her three siblings Zuko, Boa and Phillis, through a set of amazing coincidences! Even though the doggos were originally from NSW, Danielle happened to meet Zuko and his human at an appointment, and once they started talking about dogs, they realised that their furry friends were siblings! In another amazing set of coincidences, Boa and Phillis’s humans met each other at a dog park, and realised that they live less than a kilometre apart. Phillis’s human then tracked down Billie’s Instagram (@missbillie.and.mrfernando), and they were able to organise a meet with all four pups!
