Pet search platform
Pet search platform
Australia’s largest online pet adoption platform connecting homeless pets with someone to love them.
Giving homeless pets the best chance to find love.
Every day over 25,000 potential adopters visit PetRescue to search for their new furry family member, giving homeless pets the best chance to connect with the right home quickly. PetRescue has the largest database of pets for adoption - including many different species of pets, from all around Australia.
PetRescue’s reach and accessibility gives all pets the opportunity to be seen and find love, including those in remote and regional areas, with many pets available for interstate or out-of-area adoption. One such lucky pet is Frosty, whose new human-made a three-hour round trip to meet him!
Frosty found love on PetRescue.
A vehicle to help drive social change.
The PetRescue platform has been a vital tool in creating true social change by giving rescue pets a platform to share their stories, bringing pet adoption into the mainstream. Adopting a rescue pet is now seen as a badge of honour, and demand in most major Australian cities outweighs supply. Keeping the platform running and free for all is as important as ever to shine a spotlight on pets in remote or regional areas, giving every paw and tail an equal opportunity to find love.
PetRescue made the decision to remove the breed filter several years ago as part of the ‘Love knows no breed’ campaign. The goal was to ensure as many pets of all types got the chance to find the homes they deserve by encouraging potential adopters to forget any preconceptions they have about rescue pets or breed characteristics and being open to fall in love with their furry friend's unique personality.
Making adoption faster and easier.
Adopters can easily search for their new best friend by using PetRescue’s extensive range of filters, allowing them to search by state, postcode, gender, size, age, and a range of lifestyle and advanced search options.
Sending an adoption application is made easy with the ability to create and save a detailed online adopter profile. This means adopters can enquire about a pet with the click of a button, and member rescue organisations and foster carers can view all required information via the adopter's PetRescue profile. Adopters can also customise and receive alerts for newly available pets and save their favourites, giving them the best chance to find their new furry family member.
Accessibility.
With over 70% of the pet lovers that visit PetRescue doing so using a smartphone, PetRescue.com.au is designed to be a completely mobile-friendly website. PetRescue takes inclusion and web standards seriously. The website undergoes continuous code and design improvements and constant testing to help everyone (including one in five Australians with visual or cognitive impairment) to find their new best friend online. No one should be excluded from finding love!
Usability and accessibility is constantly being improved to help pets find homes faster. For the pet-loving public searching for their new BFF, pet owners looking for support and to save time for rescue group members so they can focus on the important stuff - saving lives!
That’s why the PetRescue team is constantly working on usability updates like the new mega menu, which has successfully helped get more pets seen. For example, visitors to the ‘Senior’ pet pages have tripled since the new menu launched, and pet-owning folks and those seeking crisis care support can quickly access important resources.
And a brand new boopable toolbar navigation menu for members. This update means platform tools and resources are easy to access on both mobile devices and desktop by making the clickable areas clearer and larger to find and see on the toolbar. The icons also assist with making it easier to navigate around and find what they need quickly.
PetRescue's pet listing management platform is used by rescue organisations, vets, pounds and shelters around Australia to advertise rescue pets and manage adoption enquiries for free.
