Why do cats love keyboards so much?

We’ve all seen adorable memes and videos of cats hanging out on laptops and keyboards, but why do they love getting in the way of their human’s productivity so much?!

Surprisingly, they’re not just looking for some attention while you’re on your Zoom call. The thing your feline friend is attracted to most about your keyboard is actually your scent which you leave every time you type away! 

The warmth of the keyboard is another reason you may find your kitty accidentally typing nonsense to your colleagues! Of course, being around their favourite person while you attempt to send emails is another huge plus for them. 

How do I get my cat off my keyboard?

Coming up to an important deadline and need your catto to move? Make sure you don’t punish them for this behaviour which is just friendly and social. Playing fun enrichment games and activities which mentally stimulate them every day will help to prevent them from getting in the way too much. Decking out your office with cat hang out zones (like a window perch or cat tower) should help too.
