A big dog and three cats complete Bree's home
Adopting a pet brings so much joy and fun into your life, but adopting four pets means four times the fun! Bree already had three rescue kitties (Jojo, Pirate and Ted) when she initially introduced sweet doggo Tank into her home as a foster.
Bree had discovered PetRescue a few years ago when she adopted a kitty from Homeless Hounds Animal Rescue. This sparked an ongoing connection with the rescue group, which eventually led to her learning about an adorable big boy called Tank who had landed in their care and needed a foster family. Tank’s previous owner could no longer care for him because they were unwell, and their vet had contacted Homeless Hounds to find him a loving new home.
Bree was looking for a gentle companion to her three kitties after recently losing her beloved doggo Luna. Her heart melted when she saw him, and she decided she had to offer this sweet boy a foster home. For the first week that he was in his new home, he cried every night and was very confused about the change in scenery. One day though, he decided that this was home and calmed down (even though Bree warned him it might not be forever!)
‘’I’m passionate about rescue & adoption. I’ve fostered and adopted many amazing animals and believe the first option should always be adoption.’’ - Bree.
As time went on, Bree fell in love with this gentle ‘angel of a dog’ who followed her around to every room of the house and decided she needed to adopt him and make it an official foster fail! She describes Tank as ‘’the most amazing loving boy, who is well trained and obedient’’. He loves jumping in the car to go on different adventures with Bree - she tries to take him as many places with her as possible!
Bree had previously adopted puppies, and adult doggo Tank was much less work than the younger pups - he was already well-behaved and not boisterous. Tank has epilepsy, which Bree manages with meds, making him adorably clumsy. He’s a gentle giant who’s an angel when he receives treats and shows remorse on his face when he’s done something wrong. Now, he’s very astute to the fact that Bree is pregnant and will rest his head on her baby bump - awww!
‘’Tank is the most amazing loving boy. He’s well trained and obedient.’’ - Bree.
Tank had no previous experience living with cats, so Bree made sure to introduce him to them very slowly and carefully while watching like a hawk! She encouraged and rewarded him for staying calm and used crate training and a muzzle to manage his transition into living with the kitties. As you can see from his photos, Tank has gotten very comfortable sharing his home with the three kitties!
Bree loves fostering pets because it allows her to help someone else and see them become more confident and happy and come out of their shell. She loves supporting them as they transition into their adoptive homes and receiving heartwarming updates from their new families.
