About Cody
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Cody
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound.
BREED: Australian Cattle Dog x
BREED TRAITS: Australian Cattle Dog - Affectionate, devoted and protective of family but can be wary of strangers. Usually attaches to one person and loves to be close. Very, very high energy and highly intelligent - they love to have a job and if not mentally and physically worked enough they will be destructive. Bred to herd by nipping so is mouthy and will nip cattle, children, pets, cars, anything that moves. They have a strong prey drive with other small animals unless reared with them. Not for novice owners.

ASSETS: He’s easy going, friendly, smart, active, and playful! Cody is a gorgeous boy and has a ton of love to give to his new family.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Remembering that Cody is still a puppy he loves to run! He is a very active boy who loves to get out and about running, swimming and playing with the other dogs in his foster home. He’ll then curl up for a snooze and get up and want to do it all over again!
ENDEARING FEATURES: That face! His foster carer describes him as very cute, playful and smart.
OTHER ANIMALS: He gets on well with other friendly dogs and loves their company. He could live with another friendly dog after gentle, supervised introductions. We won’t place him in a home near livestock as he chases. He has not been cat tested.
GENERAL INFO: Cody walks nicely on the lead and is housetrained. He will bark if someone is at the door and is very people friendly. He doesn’t like to be left alone for long periods and will chew things, so will need plenty of chew toys in his new home to keep him busy. He knows a few commands and is super smart so with some daily dedicated command training it should be a breeze for him.
ESSENTIALS for Cody:
** A very active, loving home with someone who can be there with him for most of the day on a permanent basis or can take him with them when they leave the house.
** An owner who will dedicate time to training him and possibly take him to classes where he can socialize and learn new things in a safe environment.
** He’s an active boy so will need good daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. An active home that is willing to involve him in daily activities is essential for him and he would love to go out for runs and exercise with his new owner.
** Cody needs a high fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
** Cody loves to be with his people so he needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night.
** Cody would go well in a home with older children or an adult only home. He would love another dog with a similar energy level to live and play with.
