About Bailey
Not every day in rescue is a good day.
We just took in Bailey as unwanted and neglected by her owner.
After being found wandering the streets, Bailey was taken to a vet clinic to have her microchip checked so the owner could be contacted and as he didn't want her back and asked the vet to kill her or send her to the pound since he would not spend a cent on her, Diamond In The Ruff Rescue was contacted to take her on. Upon hearing what the vets relayed to us, we couldn't say no. She was then seen by the vet and given medication and a plan to address her obvious skin problem and placed in temporary foster care to undergo that treatment.
Sadly, Bailey's story hasn't turned any better since. Further veterinary testing has diagnosed Bailey with hemangiosarcoma and a torn ACL. Although the latter could, possibly, be addressed with expensive TPLO surgery, hemangiosarcoma cannot be cured, and all cancer treatment options would be only a band-aid to delay the inevitable.
She is on pain medication to make her comfortable and she is not in any pain. Now, Bailey needs you, more than ever!
Bailey will not have a lot of time left and that is breaking our hearts. We do not want her to leave this world without knowing, for the first time in her life, what love means.
We are looking for the most amazing person/people to take her in and let her feel how loved she is. Someone who will spoil her rotten, make her the apple of their eye, and allow her to say her goodbye remembering only good moments.
Bailey's anxiety cannot, now, be addressed medically and training at this stage would not be in her best interest, so her people should be at home permanently (or very close to), and have a very secure yard (colorbond, 6" or higher) and have the compassion to let her get away with quirky behaviors if she so feels inclined.
Bailey is good with other dogs, so we will not refuse dog owners, as long as the existing pooches know their manners and will not overwhelm a sick senior girl. Please, no cats! For the same reason, a home with young children may not be the best, if they are a bit boisterous and usually throw tantrums.
Bailey is a big girl (35 kg) and is on restricted exercise, so long or tiresome walks are off the plate for her. What she really needs is a lot of cuddles, maybe a small stroll to the backyard every so often, and a little "doggie facebook" around the poles and trees near the home. A drive to the beach, always on a lead, just to give her a chance of feeling the sand and the seawater wetting her paws, a calm picnic in a peaceful setting, etc. are "bucket list" experiences she would love to have and we would love to provide.
As this is a special request for a very sad and specific situation, please email diamondintheruffrescue@outlook.com directly and tell us about you and your home. Please also attach photos of your yard. Sydney Metro is essential to be close to our vets.
