About Lunar
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE.
NAME: Lunar
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: American Staffordshire Terrier
American Staffordshire Terrier traits: are quite high energy, playful, affectionate and intelligent but do require training as they can be headstrong. They are very social with adults and children and are extremely loyal but can suffer from separation anxiety if left for long periods. Their sociability with dogs is a facet that needs work from an early age.

ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, friendly, confident, sweet and playful pretty much sums our gorgeous Lunar up. She’s a very sweet girl who has a huge amount of potential as well as a ton of love to give to her new family - she will be your shadow.
FAVOURITE THINGS Lunar loves life! She enjoys playing chasey and fetch, going for walks or drives and generally being around her people! She’s also a huge fan of cuddles.
ENDEARING FEATURES: She has a beautiful personality and energy about her and has very expressive big yellow eyes and can pull the loveliest and funniest faces! She does zoomies around the house when she’s happy and excited and loves to snuggle with her special people. Lunar is full of character with a curly tail and will brighten up anyone's day.
OTHER ANIMALS: Lunar loves to play with other dogs and enjoys their company. She takes a bit too much interest in smaller animals like cats and rabbits so will need a dog-only home.
GENERAL INFO: Lunar has really improved with her lead skills and is generally nice to walk although she will tug and pull at first when excited to go out. She is housetrained and knows some commands but can be a bit stubborn when it comes to actually doing what she’s asked, so will benefit greatly from a little training. She barks at noises and when strangers come to the door but is otherwise a quiet and well-behaved dog. She does feel the cold so needs to wear a coat when it's chilly and loves to sunbathe. Lunar loves to go out in the car with you and also has a very unique way of sitting!!
NOTE: Lunar has arthritis in some joints and spine and has received some injections of Arthropen which assists with movement and reduction of pain - she is going well. Lunar will need continued support in this way, or something similar. Sadly arthritis does progress so she may require additional medication as time goes on to keep her happy and mobile. An adopter will need to agree to the financial commitment of joint support, giving Lunar a good quality of life going forward.
ESSENTIALS for Lunar:
** A dog-experienced, loving home where someone is there for most of the day on a permanent basis or can take her out with them. She does suffer from some separation anxiety so does not cope well if left for long periods - she needs a human companion.
** Lunar is happiest as the only dog in the home but loves to meet doggy friends for play dates out of the house. She can be possessive with food and toys in the home so being the only dog is best for Lunar.
** An owner who will continue to put a little training in to improve her recall, help bond and grow her confidence.
** She needs good daily exercise and would enjoy a good walk a day, as she loves to get out and about.
** Lunar needs a high fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things for her to sniff and explore.
** Lunar loves to be with her people and be involved in family activities so needs to be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night.
Lunar, in her excitement especially when doing zoomies, can be a bit of a bull in a china shop, but could live with dog-savvy children over 8 years old who will treat her respectfully, be sensitive to her arthritis and give her space when she needs her down time.
If Lunar sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
