About Safford
We suspect Safford is really just a cat masquerading around like a dog.
Let’s review the evidence, shall we?
- He likes ear-rubs
- He’s quite shy with strangers
- Likes sun-bathing in his own bed or in the garden
- Prefers to be the only pet in the house
- Enjoys some quality me-time when left alone
- Is quite the homebody
However, we do have some strong arguments for him being the dog he claims he is:
- Well he certainly looks like one with that snootiest of snoots
- Not the most cat-friendly
- Has some doggo-esk ears
- Loves to run about and is keen on playing fetch with pine-cones
- Likes socialising with medium to large size dogs
- Loves the company of his favourite humans
- Is very responsive to positive training once he trusts you
- Walks well on the lead
Well, the jury might be out on whether he’s a cat or a dog, but either way, you’re getting the best of both worlds. Safford is the happiest, snootiest pet with a heart of gold and who thrives on pats and cuddles from his humans.
Safford/Saffy/Saf is that one friend at a party who can make a game out of just about anything. Give him a pinecone, he’ll turn it into a ball, give him an actual ball, he’ll turn it into a scavenger hunt. This guy is just full of party tricks.
Saf’s real party trick though is the little skip in his step. Because of an accident he had back in the day, he tends to limp a bit when he walks. But you know who else had a limp? WILLY WONKA. WHO HAD A CHOCOLATE FACTORY. Bottom line - the limp club is pretty swaggerific.
Anyway, back to Saffy.
Minus running a massive chocolate factory, the limp hasn’t slowed this dude down one bit. In fact, on his best days, he’s quite the zoomer.
Saf would like to go into a home where:
1) Everyone is super nice and gives him a lot of love and attention
2) He has a reasonable amount of toys for him to play with, preferably the squeaky kind
3) There are no children (who might stake claim to his precious toys)
4) His human(s) is patient with him and let him open up on his own terms
5) There👏 are 👏 no 👏cats
6) His human(s) works part-time or is at home most of the time
7) There’s a backyard or outdoor area for him to stretch his legs

Medical notes
Safford was hit by a car around April 2018. He broke his leg, but has had extensive rehab and moves very well. A regular exercise regime should ensure that he has no major ongoing issues with the leg. He will always have a slight limp, but this does not hold him back.
Desexed, vaccinated, flea & worm treated.
Adoption details
STEP 1 – ENQUIRE & EOI FORM:
Click 'Enquire about this pet' to contact us. We'll send you an EOI form, this must be returned before proceeding.

We'll phone you to discuss suitability, clarify any points of your application and chat process and next steps.
STEP 3 – HOUSE CHECK & MEET + GREET:
We'll come to you! The meet + greet is conducted at the same time that a house check is carried out. The meet + greet is the day that your newly adopted greyhound will be able to stay on with you.
Our adoption fee is $320.00 and must be paid on on the day of the meet + greet, and prior to starting your 2 week trial.
We have a 2 week trial, where support from our team is freely available. If you have any issues, we urge you to contact us to try and work through them, as all rescue greyhounds have some period of adjustment.
If, after the 2 week trial, you feel that you need to return the greyhound, we will refund your adoption fee (less a $50 administration fee), upon return of the dog and all paperwork and other items that the dog was adopted with.
All of our hounds are adopted out with the following:
