About Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre
Blacktown City Council's Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) is a state-of-the-art facility that houses stray and surrendered animals. We are the local government section for Urban Animal Management which administers legislation governing companion animals in order to keep our community safe, free from nuisance and to assist owners in being reunited with their lost pet.
Our animal shelter BARC (Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre) acts as a holding facility for other Councils in the Sydney region, including:

- The Municipality of Hunters Hill
- Lane Cove Council
- Parramatta City Council
- The City of Ryde
- Willoughby Council
- Fairfield
At BARC we provide end-to-end services to support our community have the best possible relationship with our pets. We help people understand how to find the greatest happiness with our furry friends. We provide learning for people, health care for animals and ongoing support services for animal lovers.
Our service provides world’s best practice in terms of matching people with pets, supporting the welfare of animals and creating a vibrant, engaging environment in a landmark facility, connected to the Western Sydney Parklands.
