About π π Nala *Foster Home Needed
FOSTER HOME NEEDED (or adoption)
Nala is an absolute sweetheart and the perfect family dog! She's a wonderful choice for you if your home has a stay at home pawrent and an existing dog needing a friend.
Nala is affectionate, gentle, well behaved, great with kids and has been around babies, loves other dogs, and has been around cats and horses without issue (although we need to do a formal cat introduction if a home with cats is interested in her).
She does have some separation anxiety and this will take a bit of time in her new home to resolve but in the right home will be completely fixed. The keys to this are at least one pawrent being at home, an exsiting dog for Nala to play and cuddle with which she really enjoys, and the ability to either leave her inside or take her in the car when you go out just while she's settling in - she's used to this and sees the car as a safe space, and when with her doggy pal can have the windows very open without risk of her jumping out. At the moment if she is left alone she uses the strength in her stocky little legs to leverage off parts of a fence to get over and try to find her people. With a fence made of flat steel or columns where there are no struts or holes to climb from - such as colourbond or pool fencing - she won't be able to jump. She just needs to feel she's not alone, in the right home she'll be settled and happy and her anxiety a thing of the past π
Does Nala sound like the dog for your family but you're not sure given her separation anxiety? We offer foster-to-adopt where you can foster with no commitment for 2 months to see how things go and give Nala a chance to settle in, and if you don't feel certain it will work are not locked into anything longer term. However our adoptions also offer a one month trail during which you can return Nala for a full refund of your adoption fee if it's not working out, so whether adoption or foster-to-adopt there are options for you and we are more than happy to work with you on a week to week basis. We are available 24/7 by phone for support.
Here's a bit more info on dostering dogs with us:
- we can provide dry dog food when we have it available and if needed
- we fund any required vet care while in foster care (and for a month as part of our adoption trial period)
- we will transport Nala to you
- access to professional dog training if needed, at no cost to foster carer (located in Wallington)
Nala is up to date with all her vetwork and has no health issues.
We can't wait to see this beautifully natured girl settled and being spoilt as she so deserves, she just needs help getting through the transition from her past life to her new home. Can you help?
Please text Jo if you can offer beautiful Nala a safe home temporarily or long term π 0419 124 437

ABOUT OUR ORGANISATION
Sunny Days runs Victoria's only specialised stray cat rehab facility
We run Victoria's only specialised stray cat rehab facility. On a rural property in Avalon, Vic, our rehab centre operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is in constant demand due to the sheer number of cats born wild and dogs no longer wanted.
Despite this demand, we have no source of ongoing funding. Unlike public pounds which enter into contracts with local councils to be the facility responsible for housing lost animals; reuniting them with owners; and sourcing new homes for those unwanted, volunteer-run pounds like ours do not have the option to partner with a government organisation and have the running of the shelter funded - we are left to fund our work through ours, and the community's donations.
You can help continue saving lives by clicking the pink DONATE button on this page, or further options at the bottom of this section. β‘ Thankyou! β‘
π OUR WORK WITH CATS:
We take in full cat colonies, pregnant and nursing mothers, ophan kittens, FIV positive cats, and sick or injured cats. Cats are humanely trapped after being identified as un-owned; we don't take in domesticated cats and have extensive processes to ensure cats trapped are true strays as opposed to owned. We don't give cats deadlines to be socialised by or they'll be euthanised, we provide sanctuary for them for as long as they need.
π OUR WORK WITH DOGS:
We take in dogs from community surrenders, owned arranged euthanasia's which vets have intervened on, and greyhounds retired from or not suitable for racing. Most of our dogs are with us for an extended period of time to ensure we know them really well before putting them up for adoption, and have been assessed by professional dog trainers if not worked with extensively. We provide full discretion with adopters about dogs' health and behaviour and unlimited, 24 hour support to integrate adopted dogs into new homes, families and lifestyles.
π HOW YOU CAN HELP
We receive adoption fees, however our animals are adopted out less frequently than happens at other shelters and rescue organisations as our animals are with us for extended periods of rehabilitation. We rely on donations to keep our animals fed, parasite treated, vaccinated regularly and treated for illness or injury. You can donate by clicking the pink DONATE button on this page, or via the alternate options below. Thankyou for your suppawt β‘
