About Lucy & Charm
‼️ LOOKING FOR FOSTER FOR SPECIAL NEEDS BLIND PUPPERS ‼️
These two were previously advertised as Lala and Turbo, the two blind pups. They are now in foster care, with one of our experienced carers. We are looking for another foster home for either so we can seperate for their benefit.
From carer:
I have taken these two in under the rescue and we have been toying with separating as they show some signs of littermate syndrome. The time has come where I believe this to be the right path forward.
These two are an extremely special case and will take a very special home. I am not fussed which of the two move, and I'm happy to discuss their individual needs and personalities if we move forward.
Lucy and Charm are not 'husky' in personality. Both dogs are genetically, neurologically blind. They show a lowered mental age (acting more similar to a puppy in nature), balance issues similar to CH in cats, and feeding issues.
Both have a fantastic quality of life, and despite their quirks are amazing, loving dogs who get on with all other dogs (and quite likely cats, given they have zero ability to see or chase). No seperation anxiety, very quiet, happy go lucky. They are both toilet trained. Overall, they are easy dogs to care for as they are happy to keep themselves occupied.
Their needs are quite minimal- they are happy indoors or out. They MUST be separated from other dogs for feeding as they are used to fighting other seeing dogs for food and struggle to eat from a bowl. They will need slow confidence work on leash but are very positive and happy dogs so picking it up quickly!
They will need another dog at home who is not fussed if they are bumped into or 'booped' with a foot!
I'd like the sibling to stick close so I can offer guidance so Northwest is ideal. 😊
Specific to Lucy: Lucy is the more outgoing and social of the two, choosing to be close to humans and dogs most times. However, Lucy is the more high energy dog so will need consistent leash work to make sure she gets exercise. Lucy is currently coming off heat, so will need to be kept inside when unsupervised and booked for desexing shortly. She is a little less steady on her feet, and can get overly excited and knock things over. She is more sensitive to sound and can get a start if things drop.
Specific to Charm: Charm is the more independent of the two dogs, and had no issues taking a nap in the middle of the yard. He is happy to just exist! Charm has worse food issues, and is taking time to learn to eat out of a bowl (he occasionally knocks it over and panics). He is more steady on his feet than Lucy. He will need to be fed a mix of dry and wet to help him with his feeding issues- currently he is on dry + prime loaf.
