Meet Wilson, a distinguished old gentleman with a big ol’ heart seeking his forever home.

About: Wilson embodies agreeableness and friendliness, often displaying excitement and curiosity, albeit sometimes tempered with a hint of shyness around new faces.

Wilson's ideal match would be an experienced dog owner who understands his need for patience and understanding.

At his age, this gentle soul values calm, peace & quiet, making him best suited for those who live & lead a quiet life at home, where he can relax and enjoy the company of his human friends.

Ideal Home: This sweet old man is adaptable for various living situations, from suburbia to rural living, as long as the yard is medium to large with secure fencing.

As he loves spending time with people it would be ideal for him to be able to have access inside the home too.

Family: While Wilson may take a bit of time to warm up to new acquaintances, particularly those of the younger variety, he is open to meeting respectful individuals aged 13 years and older.

Given his initial wariness of strangers, a household with older children would provide him with the space and time he needs to feel comfortable.

Furry Friends: During his dog assessments, it became evident that Wilson prefers the spotlight to himself, as he tends to shy away from the company of other dogs. While we are committed to helping him overcome this preference, it's essential to acknowledge that Wilson may simply prefer the company of humans.

As we cannot test, we are unsure how Wilson would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the direction of his new owners.

As always, we recommend that when introducing your new & existing animals that it is does slowly & that each animals boundaries are respected.

Work: In terms of training, Wilson is eager to please and responds well to positive reinforcement, particularly when accompanied by tasty treats. He knows basic commands like 'sit,' 'shake,' and 'roll.'

He would benefit from postadoption training such as training at home or one on one with a professional – training may include stranger socialisation & additional basic obedience.

We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.

Play: While he may not be overly interested in toys, he thoroughly enjoys engaging with his human friends.

Despite his age, Wilson maintains a moderate level of energy and would appreciate daily walks lasting 20-30 minutes to stretch his legs and explore his surroundings. He walks politely on a leash, occasionally expressing his joy with a delightful zoomie.
