You know what they say, a dog is a man’s best friend, and Rusty is definitely looking to be your best friend. Rusty is a beautiful red heeler cross ready to enjoy all the time in the world with you. He is a certified house-trained dog and knows quite a few commands, such a sit, wait, on your bed and many more. If you want to teach him anymore Rusty is easily persuaded by treats, and is very food driven. Rusty is a great dog for travelling, an absolute saint in the car and is willing to sit with you at any location you wish to take him. He is extremely well mannered whether it is in a large group of people, camping or even going to cafes.
Rusty is great at interacting with other dogs and is perfect on the lead. If you were to walk past another dog, a short sniff and a little guiding will put him right on track. Rusty is a gentle dog, knowing when its time to just sit and relax, and is always happy to be around you.
Rusty has suffered from separation anxiety in the past and this might occur again in his new home till he knows you are his person. He is a bit uncomfortable with young children hanging around him which we can understand. He is fine to be on his own or with another dog, but wouldn’t be a great active playmate as he does like to do his own thing and hang around you.
Rusty is the perfect dog to call your best mate, he is great at dog interactions, is calm in large crowds and is a champ at keeping you company. He loves swimming, playing with his ball and having a walk with his owner. Rusty is a great travel companion and great to walk with, he just loves to be by your side. If you’re looking to call someone your best friend, Rusty is here.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

We look forward to receiving your application.
