About Tammy Celestino
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/about-vicdrg/adoption-and-foster-application-forms.html/
Darling Tammy is an endearing cuddle bug who loves attention from her people. A bright and friendly girl, Tammy enjoys snuggles on the couch, pottering in the yard, and attention from people, big and small. She sleeps quietly on her bed through the night, but wouldn’t say no to sharing the human bed if it was on offer.
Tammy travels well in the car and is fine being respectfully handled at the vets and around the house. Tammy came into care unversed in the etiquette of toilet training. She has been making good progress in her foster home and is now confidently using the doggy door, but she will need some patient guidance learning the routines of her new home. Tammy is getting on fine with her doggy foster brother but is not super interested in other pups; she’s more of a people dog. She enjoys getting out and about and is learning not to pull on lead as she seeks the smells and sights of her neighbourhood. Tammy has been good with other dogs she meets at the park, and is generally fine with other polite pooches while on lead. She is not tested with cats, although out on her walks, she has seen and ignored them. However recently she has been reactive to the cat next door who h angs around ‘her’ place. Tammy is a good canine door-bell, letting her carers know when someone drops by, and then providing a friendly greeting to visitors upon introductions.
A devoted companion, Tammy will do well in a variety of household situations where she has the company of her person or people a lot of the time. She could live comfortably with another small dog but would be equally happy having you all to herself. Tammy is fine being left for short periods but, being the sociable girl she is, she’d rather be with the family at home or accompanying you when possible, so a full time working household is probably not for her. If Tammy’s sweet face melts your heart and you fit her bill, she’d love you to submit an adoption application.
Please note: our dogs are not available for interstate adoption. We also do not adopt to people under the age of 25 years.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
Medical notes
Weight: 6kg
Tammy has a Grade 2 heart murmur - she is stable and meds are not needed.
Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
