About Samba
** IN FOSTER CARE IN HURSTVILLE**
Samba is the perfect heart & soul dog. She is a courageous, resilient and very stable kelpie who adapted quickly to home life after her rescue. In her first month, her routine altered between training sessions, hikes and crate rest time. In that month, she learned how to have social interactions with people and we saw parts of her full light shine through!
She also trained on the slatmill! In the second month, she joined a new foster home and was able to generalise good feelings towards people. She was the perfect companion on hikes, long walks by the beach and decompression in the yard. Now, back with her first foster, she has blossomed and opened up to become this goofy, confident, yet gentle pup who can walk past dogs at a distance, who enjoys watching cats before moving herself away, and is happy to chill in the yard during the day as long as she gets a morning and evening activity!
MY IDEAL HOME: Samba would love a yard with grass where she can roll around during the day. She's confident to spend time by herself if you give her a bone or a lasting chew. She's very socially inclined with people and craves a training session and a challenging hike. She doesn't need a dog pal, and doesn't care too much for them as long as she has you. She hasn't met many kids but she'll easily warm up to meet and greet behind a gate with food.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Samba is ready to work in the mornings and after a big sniffari/run/training session, she potatoes out on the grass, sunbaking, playing with squeakers and napping heaps. When you get home from work, she'd love an evening team bonding activity!
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Dog savvy children over 12! She will need ongoing training to teach her how to interact gently with smaller kids.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: Samba would prefer to be an only dog! She hasn't mastered appropriate play manners yet with dogs and will need ongoing training. So far she has shown avoidance towards cats but she will very likely try to herd them if they're in the same house as her.

Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill in our adoption enquiry form.
For Cats: https://form.jotform.co/92940837256870
For Dogs: https://form.jotform.co/80677377750872
Please use these links rather than the 'Enquire' button on the pet's PetRescue profile to streamline your enquiry.
Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
