About Harry Babbington
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/about-vicdrg/adoption-and-foster-application-forms.html/
Harry is a lovely, sweet boy with a really playful side and is an absolute delight to be around.
Harry loves nothing more than being around his people. He loves to snuggle up next to you, curl up in a ball for a snooze close by, sit in your lap or follow you around.
He also likes being around other dogs and being part of a pack. We think this relaxes him. Harry is generally good with other dogs but can try to be a bit dominant at the beginning, but this is easily managed and once he settles in, he loves being part of the pack or with another similar dog.
Overall, Harry just goes with the flow and has integrated easily and quickly into a home with three other dogs, teenagers, their friends and other adults without any problems. He seems to really like the company.
Harry is generally house trained and can use a doggie door. He also sleeps through the night.
He travels well in the car, is obedient and comes when called but doesn’t seem to understand other commands. He is a smart cookie though, so loving guidance will see great results.
He gets very excited when it is time for a walk and is generally good when out and about. Sometimes Harry pulls but this isn’t too bad at all and when he sees other dogs, he is keen to say hello and gets quite excited.
He will need a secure yard as he can wander off and was surrendered because he so hated being on his owner he was trying to dig next door to the neighbour’s dogs.
Harry can display separation anxiety but this can be worked with. It is of course worse for him now has he has been uprooted from his original home.
A perfect home for Harry? As he can sometimes get anxious when left without his people, we think that a home with other similar dog/s and a family that is around quite a lot.
Harry has quickly charmed his way into his foster family’s hearts and all their friends and family. There is no doubt he will do the same with you.
Untested with cats.
Please note: our dogs are not available for interstate adoption. We also do not adopt to people under the age of 25 years.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
