100 pets prevented from facing an uncertain future

Here’s a reason to start the year off with a celebration - PetRescue’s pet owner support program Home2Home has already helped over 100 pets find a new place to call home! 🎉

In early 2020, the pandemic provided an opportunity to fast track a big idea that quickly turned into a successful program. Home2home has given pet owners options and support during a very stressful time. Through Home2Home, we’ve assisted with helping pet owners rehome their pets safely using PetRescue’s adoption platform.

With Home2Home, pet owners, who already face the heartbreaking decision of rehoming their pet, can use a safe rehoming pathway in the most stress-free way possible; by keeping them in an environment they’re familiar with - their current home - instead of the alternative of going to a facility or shelter. 

This option also benefits shelters and rescue groups who are already facing high volumes of intake and mostly at capacity.

Today, almost two years after the launch of the program, we’re seeing the impact it has had on pet owners across the country, and how it continues to serve as a lifeboat for scores of pet owners and their pets. A milestone of preventing 100 pets from entering the pound system via a program like this is a big win for the entire PetRescue community. With 100,000 pets being killed in the pound system every year, keeping pets out of pounds is a crucial way out of this national crisis.
